SIMPLE RECIPES: 12 DELICIOUS BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a fabulous week so far. I have now finished Sixth Form forever and I have decided that before I go to Uni I want to bake more, I used to love baking cakes and I love trying new recipes therefore I have decided to have a weekly Blogpost on a Wednesday as well as a regular weekend blog post which will feature a sweet treat I have made that week with a list of ingredients and steps for how to make these delicious treats.
This week I made blueberry muffins and chocolate brownies, this blog post focuses on the blueberry muffins I made and my chocolate brownie recipe will be up next week. I love baking and this is a recipe I have used for years, blueberry muffins are my favourite and are perfect if you are wanting a non chocolate sweet treat.

Ingredients to make 12 Blueberry Muffins:
165g of Plain Flour
165g of Salted Butter
97.5g of Caster Sugar
3 Eggs
2 & 1/2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
125g of Blueberries
How To Bake These Blueberry Muffins:
First of all, I weighed my ingredients and poured them into the bowls. I find it is easier to prepare the ingredients before I start baking in order to make it easier when it comes to mixing the ingredients together as all of the ingredients are weighed out.
After I had weighed the ingredients, the first baking step was to cream the butter and sugar together slowly and gently. After this I added the eggs one at a time and mixed them together for about three minutes.
Furthermore, I then added in the other ingredients such as flour and baking powder and mixed the ingredients together. After the ingredients were mixed together, I added the blueberries and stirred them into the mix. I then put the muffin mixture into the fridge to chill, I did this for about 2 hours, however for best results leave this mixture in the fridge overnight.
After about 2 hours I took the bowl out of the fridge and placed a spoonful of the mixture into each muffin case. Don't worry if you run out of mixture towards the end, even if it doesn't look like much, remember the muffins will expand.

Place the muffin tray into the oven and bake the muffins at 200C for 20 minutes, I would advise checking these muffins whilst they are baking as if you don't want them as golden as I have made them, I would suggest taking them out a little bit earlier.

12 Delicious Blueberry Muffins

I hope you have all enjoyed this Blogpost, I know it's a bit different to what I usually post but I really wanted to share my love of baking and some of the recipes I love. so make sure you check out for next weeks recipe, thank you! Also make sure you are following my Instagram as everytime I bake I will post a photo to give my followers a sneak peak of what I have made that week.

Thanks so much for reading!

AFTERNOON TEA AT PATISSERIE VALERIE

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing weekend, today I wanted to share with you my experience of afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie in Durham. I bought my mum a voucher for afternoon tea for her birthday in April and we have only just managed to organise a time when we could go. I bought the voucher from Wowcher, it was £19 instead of £25 which is what they charge in their cafe's for afternoon tea and the good thing was it was valid until the beginning of July. I love going for afternoon tea so I knew as soon as I saw the offer, I had to buy one for my mum's birthday. I would definitely recommend this cafe, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful! My mum and I are already discussing when we will be going back there for afternoon tea and I think we would definitely use Wowcher again as it was so easy and saved us a little bit of money. All I had to do was buy the voucher on the Wowcher website and they sent me the voucher in an email so I printed it off and took it with me to the nearest Patisserie Valerie store, it was so easy. I hadn't used Wowcher before I bought this so I was unsure of how easy it would be to purchase this voucher and use it but it was so easy therefore I would definitely recommend it!

I love going for afternoon tea, it's one of my favourite things to do. I had never been to Patisserie Valerie before today and I have to say I was very impressed with the service and food. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was so quick, the cafe we went to was quite big and we chose to sit upstairs as it was quieter. We rang up this morning to book a table to ensure we were able to get a table so I would recommend doing this as on the voucher it said if the cafe was busy, there would be a 20 minute waiting time therefore we checked to make sure we were able to get a table.

We were served a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. There was a selection of 5 sandwiches and a mini vegetable quiche (there was two of every sandwich), 2 x fruit and plain scones and a selection of 5 cakes which were absolutely delicious! I had two pots of tea which was so nice and my mum had two latte's as she doesn't drink tea.

Afternoon Tea for 2

Afternoon tea really fills me up therefore we asked if we would be able to take home the food we hadn't eaten. They wrapped up our cakes and scones really nicely which was absolutely lovely. The cakes were absolutely amazing!!

I hope you have enjoyed this blogpost, I know it is a bit different to my usual posts but I really like afternoon tea and wanted to share my experience with everyone. If you have visited a chain of places that does afternoon tea, please let me know what it's like and I might try afternoon tea there as I love visiting new places and trying their afternoon tea.

Thanks so much for reading!

BIRCHBOX REVIEW - JUNE 2016!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing weekend!! A few weeks ago I did a blogpost on my first ever Birchbox, and I loved the feedback I received on that post! I love Birchbox, they are a monthly subscription service where subscribers receive beauty products such as makeup, skincare and haircare products! I did a poll a few days ago and this post was the most popular so I hope you all enjoy this blog post and thanks so much to everyone who voted!!

1. Stila - Lip Glaze (worth £15)
This product is absolutely lovely, it's so glossy and moisturising, this is the product I have used the most since receiving this box. I love trying new lip glosses and I have wanted to try lip products from Stila for absolutely ages so I was so happy to receive one in this months box. The colour of this lip glaze is absolutely gorgeous, it's a shimmery coral peach colour which is so lovely as it's so glossy and shimmery!! To apply this product, I had to twist the bottom of the product for a while to release the product, this is good as it means not much product is wasted as it is easier to watch how much product you should use. The only thing about this product is only half of the applicator is filled with lip glaze therefore you don't get a lot of the product so I would love it if it included more product as I have used quite a lot of this product and I don't want it to run out quickly. Although I have to say I would definitely buy this product again as I love the colour and it's so moisturising. One thing I like about this product is it also contains vitamins A, C and E to keep my lips moisturised throughout the day.

2. Percy and Reed - Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray (worth £12)
I don't really use many hair products often therefore when I received this product I was unsure when to use it as I don't really style my hair regularly, however I recently curled my hair and sprayed this product after to keep the curls intact, I really like this product as its easy to brush through my hair after applying this product and helps to keep my hair styled all day! I have had a few products from Percy and Reed in the past and I have absolutely loved them, so I was so happy to receive a product from this brand as the quality is always amazing, I would definitely recommend this brand for hair styling products, their products are amazing and so simple and easy to use.

3. BioNike - Defence Tolerance Essential Cleansing Water (worth £12.50)
I love trying new skincare brands therefore I was so happy to receive this product, I received an amazing exfoliating cleansing product last month so I was happy to receive another cleanser like this cleansing water product. This product is so gentle and leaves my skin feeling amazing, this product smells lovely and is great to use after removing my makeup. I would definitely recommend cleansing water to anyone as this product is so gentle and I only have to use a small amount. This product is amazing as it leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and very refreshed.

4. Monu Professional Skincare - MONUSpa Warming Ginger Body Oil (worth £29.95)
This product looks amazing and smells divine, this product is so nice. I've only used it once therefore I can't wait to use this product again, I liked it before as it leaves my skin feeling amazing. This product is great as it's so gentle and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. I think this is amazing as this product is organic and full of vitamins in order to leave your skin feeling incredible, I can't wait to use this product again!

5. Pure and Light Organic Skincare - Essential Face Cream (worth £29)
This product is absolutely lovely, I have been using this face cream a lot recently and I have to say I love it!! This face cream leaves my skin feeling so smooth and super soft, this product is so rich therefore I only have to use a small amount. I love trying different moisturisers and this is one of my favourite face creams, I absolutely love this face cream as it leaves my face feeling so smooth! Although this face cream is quite expensive, I do think I will purchase this product as I really like it and it leaves my skin feeling amazing!!

STEP BY STEP MAKEUP LOOK - GLAM MAKEUP LOOK WITH SHIMMERY PINK/PURPLE EYE MAKEUP!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!! Today I wanted to write a different kind of blog post, I have done so many makeup look blog posts but I wanted to create a blog post where I went through each step of my make up look to show you how I apply my makeup and what my make up routine is like. I chose to create a sunkissed makeup look with bold pink shimmery eyes as I have been loving this eye makeup look recently!!

Shimmery Coral Makeup Look:
This is the full makeup look, read below to find out how I created this make up look, I hope you all like this makeup look!!

First of all, before I apply any of my makeup, I do my skincare routine. This is where I cleanse, tone and moisturise, I love doing this when I get up in the morning, before I apply my makeup to ensure my skin is feeling fresh and healthy! I have been using Simple's skincare range for the past few months and I love their cleanser, toner and light moisturiser as they are absolutely perfect to use before applying my makeup. I have also been using quite a few new skincare products recently and I am going to post an updated skincare soon so make sure you look out for that!

After I have cleansed, toned and moisturised, I use my favourite day cream at the minute which is the Garnier Age Defence one, I love using this day cream before I apply my makeup as it leaves my skin feeling so smooth and is the perfect base before applying my foundation.

Step 1: First of all, I apply my foundation. At the minute, I am using L'Oreal's True Match Foundation in Vanilla Rose, this shade is perfect for my skin tone! I love this foundation as it gives my skin a fresh dewy make up look, it also feels really light and is so easy to blend. I apply this foundation with my Spectrum Collection Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge, this sponge is amazing, it's a little bit smaller than the beauty blender I had before but it's super soft and this makes it so easy to blend my foundation!
Product used: L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Vanilla Rose

Step 2: I then applied my contour kit in the areas of my face I want to contour such as the sides of my nose, across my forehead and my cheekbones. I use Technic's Colour Fix Cream Foundation Contour Palette as I love these shades and feel they are the perfect shades to contour my face. I usually use a beauty blender to blend my contour as I feel this is the best way to apply contour to my face as I want to create a flawless finish and a beautiful sunkissed look.
Product used: Technic Colour Fix Cream Foundation Contour Palette

I used the bottom left shade to contour my face, as you can see above, this shade is quite dark therefore I only applied a small amount of this product and blended this product well with a beauty blender!

Step 3: After I have applied my contour, I then apply a lighter shade to highlight the areas of my face I want to highlight as well as I use a lighter shade to conceal the bags under my eyes and any spots I have at the time. I chose quite a light shade as I want the highlight to brighten my face and make my contour and highlight softer! I also blend these using a beauty blender, I think this is the best way to blend cream products so if you haven't already tried using a beauty blender then I suggest you try using one as they are so good and give you a beautiful flawless finish!
Product used: Technic Colour Fix Cream Foundation Contour Palette

I used the second shade from the right to highlight my face, I chose a really light, bright shade as I wanted to make my contour stand out as well as brighten my makeup look! I also used this shade to conceal any spots to give my skin a flawless finish and cover my spots.

Step 4: After I had used the cream products, I then used my Makeup Revolution All About Bronze palette, this palette is absolutely amazing, the shades are absolutely gorgeous and perfect to create a lovely sunkissed makeup look. As can be seen below, the contour I applied previously looks quite natural therefore I chose to apply some shades from this palette to make my look more bronzed! I love this palette as I love creating a lovely sunkissed make up look!!
Product used: Makeup Revolution All About Bronze Palette

I used two shades to bronze my face, this was after I had used my first shade which was the second shade from the left on the top row of the palette. This shade is absolutely beautiful, I love using it to create sunkissed makeup looks!

This picture is after I have applied the second shade which is the one which is the second shade along from the left on the bottom row of the palette. As you can see above, my face looks more bronzed than before therefore I would recommend using two shades when using this palette if you want to create a bronzed make up look!

Step 5: After I applied my bronzer, I applied blusher using my Makeup Revolution Sugar and Spice palette, this is one of my favourite blusher palettes at the minute, it has a variety of beautiful blush shades as well as two pink toned shimmery highlighters which are absolutely gorgeous! I use this palette for both highlighter and blusher, this palette is so affordable and the quality of the products is absolutely amazing!
Product used: Makeup Revolution Sugar and Spice palette

For the blusher, I used two shades from the top layer of the palette, the left one and the shade second from the right, these shades are completely different but I love using a subtle blush shade to begin with and then using a bright shimmery blusher to make my blusher stand out as well as build up coverage. I also used the shimmery lilac shade to highlight my face, I applied this underneath my brow bone before I apply eyeshadow as I love to make my eye makeup stand out!

Step 6: Finally to highlight the areas of my face I highlight, I use the Jelly Pong Pong Luminizer Gel in Glow Getter, this shade is absolutely beautiful and this product is so easy to blend, I usually blend this product with my beauty blender as this is the best way for me to apply this product. This product is so shimmery and creamy which makes is so easy to blend, I love using this product.
Product used: Jelly Pong Pong Luminizer Gel in Glow Getter

As can be seen above, I apply this product across my forehead, along my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose, this highlighter is so good and I love using it to highlight and brighten my face.
This is after I have applied this product and blended it, as can be seen above, my face is more shimmery and dewy. I would recommend this product if you are wanting to create quite a dewy make up look as it makes it look absolutely beautiful and gives a flawless finish!

Eyemakeup:
Step 7: I love creating different eye makeup looks and recently I bought a new palette from Makeup Revolution which is absolutely amazing, it's the New-trals v Neutral palette which is absolutely incredible, it has a variety of both shimmer and matte shades which are amazing as you can create many different makeup looks!
Product used: Makeup Revolution New-Trals v Neutral palette

To begin with I applied the shade "Personal" all over my eye lid, this shade is a beautiful coral shade, perfect for any makeup look. I love coral eyeshadows, I think they are absolutely beautiful and really help to make my eye makeup stand out. I then applied "Newtral" in the crease lightly as I wanted to make my eye makeup stand out therefore I applied this in the crease as this eyeshadow is a gorgeous colour, perfect for any bold eye makeup look. The final eyeshadow I used was "Partial", this is an absolutely gorgeous eyeshadow, it's one of my favourite eyeshadows at the minute, I absolutely love it! It's a beautiful shimmery purple shade, I applied this all over my eyelid to finish this eye makeup look!

I then applied the shade "Style" which is a beautiful lilac shimmery shade underneath my brow bone to highlight and make my eye makeup stand out. I love this shade as its so shimmery and beautiful, perfect to brighten any eye makeup look!

Product used: Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

Finally to complete this make up look, I applied Benefit's Rollerlash Mascara, this mascara is absolutely amazing, it's the perfect mascara to use to lengthen and dramatise lashes as well as volumising lashes to make my eye makeup stand out!!

For my lips:
For my lips, I used two lipsticks to create a beautiful nude pink lip colour, I used two lipsticks from Freedom's Pro Lipstick Bare Collection. I used the shades "Whispers" and "Naked Beauty" both of these shades are absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to use a natural lip colour for this makeup look as I have used quite bold eye makeup!

This is the finished make up look as can be seen below, this makeup look is very dewy and my eyes are quite bold, I chose to use bright colours as I wanted to create a bold glam make up look! I hope you all like this makeup look.
I hope you all enjoyed reading this blog post, please let me know if you would like to see more of these in the future, thank you!!
Just to let you know, none of the images in this blog post were edited as I wanted to show readers what this make up look looks like in real life therefore I haven't edited any of the images displayed in this blog post!
